Growing Through God’s Word

As followers of Christ, we are constantly faced with different voices telling us how to live, what to value, and where to place our trust. Culture changes, opinions shift, and circumstances can leave us feeling uncertain. But God’s Word remains constant. The Bible is the ultimate authority for the Christian life because it comes directly from God and reveals His truth, wisdom, and instruction for us.

In 2 Timothy 3:16–17, we are reminded that all Scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching, correcting, and training us in righteousness. God did not give us His Word simply to inform us, but to transform us and prepare us to live faithfully. Scripture teaches us how to follow Him, how to love others, and how to align our lives with His will.

Jesus also speaks about the importance of building our lives on His truth in Matthew 7:24–27. He compares those who hear His words and put them into practice to a wise man who built his house on the rock. Storms came, winds blew, but the house stood firm because its foundation was secure. When we build our lives on God’s instruction instead of our own understanding, we find stability, wisdom, and direction even in difficult seasons.

Following God’s Word requires surrender and trust. There will be moments when His instruction challenges us or calls us to grow in ways that feel uncomfortable. But God’s commands are always for our good and draw us closer to Him. The more we submit our lives to His truth, the more we become the people He created us to be.

This Week’s Challenge:

Read 2 Timothy 3:16–17 and Matthew 7:24–27 every day this week. Spend a few quiet moments reflecting on what it looks like to build your life on God’s Word. Ask Him to reveal any areas where you may be relying on your own understanding instead of His truth.

Prayer:

“God, help me to place Your instruction above all else in my life. Show me where my life is not in submission with Your will and how I can adjust. Teach me to know Your instruction better each and every day. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.”
